Earlier this year as a pre 3rd birthday present for P, I decided to take her on her first ski trip (I am a snowboarder~~K2 150 Luna). We headed for the Swiss Alps~~specifically to Lauterbrunen/Interlaken. While there, we stayed at the Valley Hostel which was a REALLY nice hotel. Outside our balcony was the Jungfrau Waterfall~BEAUTIFUL!!!
Upon arrival, I was highly encouraged by the ski folks that P needed a helmet, since I paid for her to take a 2 hour ski class. Off to the supply shop to get a helmet for the little one. Of course, with the helmet, she NEEDED the goggles!! Hey, she wanted the purple helmet!!
Once we arrived at the area halfway up the slope, P said she was ready for class. At this point, she was still having fun.
Once her class started, it began to snow, HARD, and she was not having fun anymore!!
After about 20 minutes with the skis on, she was 'ALL DONE!!', and declared herself hungry. Since she was done for the day we walked down the entire slope, in about 30 feet of snow. We had to walk down in the middle of the ski run, with skiers and snowboarders whizzing all around us. We went to lunch at a restaurant at the base of the run, where P ordered pommes frites (french fries), and fell asleep waiting for them. The VERY nice folks at the restaurant let us stay for about 2 hours while P was passed out in the booth, napping. That is my snowboard in the background.
Since P declared that she WOULD NOT go skiing, the next day, we road the train up and down the slopes, and went sledding down the 'special' sled trail~~once again dodging skiers and snowboarders.
This past weekend, P said she wanted to go skiing, again. She also said she wants a snowboard for Christmas~~what 3 year old asks for a snowboard for Christmas (what happened to Barbie?)?Maybe we will go to the Dolomites in Italy.
